Replay Solutions, Inc., a provider of innovative solutions for maximizing software quality, today announced the company has secured $11 million in Series B financing from three prestigious venture capital firms -- Sigma Partners, Hummer Winblad and Partech International. Replay, whose "DVR-like functionality for software," eliminates software issues by recording exact executions of programs and replaying recordings to fast-forward to every moment of error, will use the funds to extend sales and marketing reach and accelerate internal research and development work.
Replay enables companies, teams or individuals to record their software applications and servers at any stage of the application lifecycle. The company’s flagship product - ReplayDIRECTOR -- virtualizes and re-executes applications, so that when errors occur, users can fast-forward directly to the root cause. ReplayDIRECTOR will reproduce any application errors and can be coupled with any standard debugger, profiler or diagnostic tool to quickly correct errors in the code and optimize workflows.
Since its start in 2004, Replay has filed five patents for its technology. Replay has won enterprise customers from financial services, commercial software, consumer services, entertainment companies, and other major verticals. Replay Solutions also has completed a worldwide licensing deal with Electronic Arts and entered into a strategic partnership with HP in the Enterprise Management Alliance Partner program, among other partnership deals.
"Our vision at Replay Solutions is to eliminate inefficient software quality practices and provide real solutions to the challenges of building, testing and managing complex, distributed software applications,” said Jonathan Lindo, CEO of Replay Solutions. “Record and replay methodology has dramatically increased the productivity of development, test and operations teams and has set a new status quo for intuitive problem resolution technologies. This additional funding will give us more capacity to evangelize better practices and promote this vision."
Sigma Partners managing director Bob Spinner will join Replay Solutions' Board of Directors. Spinner joins current board members Mark Gorenberg, managing director of Hummer Winblad, and Nicolas El Baze, general partner of Partech International. Replay’s Board of Directors also includes the company’s two co-founders, Jonathan Lindo and Jeff Daudel.
"Replay Solutions solves a difficult problem in the world of software development with a unique and sophisticated product that allows developers and operations managers to efficiently build and run their applications," said Spinner. "This solution is applicable to every industry where software development is involved and our investment will help them take advantage of this large market."
Replay Solutions will use Series B funding specifically to grow sales, marketing and engineering departments, expand product lines to address new markets and pursue additional strategic partnerships with key industry leaders. The Series B investment is the second by Hummer Winblad and Partech International, which invested $4.2 million in a Series A round announced in November 2006.
