Application defects are inevitable. Because fixing these defects can be time-consuming and unpredictable, applications are frequently released with hundreds of open bug reports, release schedules are delayed while developers struggle to hunt down issues, and helpdesk tickets stay open while problems remain unresolved. Nobody likes this, but the difficulty in solving critical defects has caused lengthened time to repair, schedule delays and uncomfortable quality tradeoffs to become an accepted part of the application lifecycle. A completely new attack on application defects

Inspired by two  unique but ultimately complementary technologies - the DVR and Virtualization - Replay’s core technology focuses on simplifying problem resolution in all phases of the software lifecycle--Defect Documentation and Communication, Environment Setup and Root Cause Analysis.  The company’s flagship  product, ReplayDIRECTOR, accomplishes this by doing the difficult work of reproducing the root cause of any software defect, no matter how complex the original environment, essentially eliminating cases of “difficult to reproduce” and “works on my machine” bugs. ReplayDIRECTOR captures only inputs and events that can affect an application, and then replays them in a virtual environment (the “Virtualization”) while re-executing the original binaries (the “DVR”). This produces three key benefits: a defect is perfectly documented, elimination of the need to recreate the original execution environment and rapid source-level root cause analysis and compressed Mean Time to Repair.  ReplayDIRECTOR customers have reported savings in the millions of dollars when using ReplayDIRECTOR on complex projects based on the time and capital saved in their defect resolution process.
